Stocksbridge Cricket Club

Wins for the 1s and 2s over the Bank Holiday weekend with the 3s being rained off and Sunday XI losing at Shef Transport. U17s won a thriller at Parkhead by 3 runs. The Cricket festival to celebrate 150 years of club cricket in the valley will run from Thurs 31st May-Mon 4th June inclusive

Welcome to the website of Stocksbridge Cricket Club. We are an ECB focus club based at Bracken Moor Sports and Social Club. We formed in 1999 following the amalgamation of Stocksbridge Old and Stocksbridge Works. The club caters for all abilities and is at the heart of the community; it continues to progress with record members and a junior section we are all immensely proud of.

The club currently operates with three Saturday teams in the Yorkshire and Derbyshire Cricket League (YDCL) and one team in the Barnsley and District Sunday Cricket League (BDCL). In addition, we aim to field eight junior teams in the Ben Jessop Sheffield and District League in 2012. The club has had several juniors representing Sheffield and District and beyond in recent years; including Chris Pickford, who was picked in the Yorkshire team U12 team in 2011, fellow U12s Brandon Shaw and Michael Hughes and U13’s Ben Lyons, Alex Grimmer and Ben Cherry.

Stocksbridge CC was ClubMark accredited in August 2011. If you would like to view a copy of the club's development plan then please contact James Ward. 2011 was another successful season for both adult and junior sections. The 1st XI were champions of YDCL Div 2 after completing an unbeaten season with 17 wins from 18 played. The 3rd XI were also champions of YDCL Div 5; whilst both U13 teams won league trophies in 2011. The 20:20 team, meanwhile, reached the semi-finals of the Winston Cup before narrowly losing out to eventual winners, Apperknowle.

2012 marks 150 years of club cricket being played in the valley of Stocksbridge. We are aiming to mark this with a number of special events predominantly running over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend - Thurs 31st May-Mon 4th June inclusive. We are aiming to attract the MCC and radio Sheffield to play during the weekend as well as a veterans team. A history of SCC book will also be written to mark the occasion.
